University of Giessen, Germany

The Giessen branch of the European Graduate School "Complex Systems of Hadrons and Nuclei" has been recognized as a Marie Curie Training Site for theoretical and experimental hadron physics.

The scientific program of the Training Site includes experimental and theoretical research related to:

  • Structure of hadrons and their interactions
  • Properties of mesons and baryons in free space and a nuclear environment
  • Flavour dynamics of strange and charmed systems
  • Signals of the Quark-Gluon Plasma

(i.e. physics at GSI, DESY, MAMI, ELSA, JLAB, RHIC and LHC).

Details of the physics program and more information can be found on the homepages of the involved institutes:

Marie Curie Fellowship

In particular foreign students are invited to participate in this research and educational program. The European Graduate School offers a broad program of advanced courses in hadron physics, both in theory and experiment. All courses are given in English, which is also the working language of the Marie Curie training site.

The requirements are:

Nationality
All fellows must be nationals of an EU Member or Associated State, or have resided in the EU for at least five years immediately prior to their selection by the training site.

Mobility
They must not undertake their fellowship in the country of their nationality or recent centre of activity. Nationals from an Associated State can only carry out their fellowship in a Member State.

Age
At the time of selection the fellow must not be older than 35 years.

Research Experience
The scheme is directed to postgraduate researchers pursuing doctoral studies in a subject area
similar to that of the Training Site.

What is the duration?
From 3 months up to 1 academic year.

What is the estimated support?
Fellows will receive the following:
Allowance for fellow: 1200 EUR/fellow-month
Contribution to travel costs: 100 EUR/fellow-month
